All over the Flathead Valley, professional and amateur bakers and pastry chefs were busy and baked their favorite recipes in for the Flathead County Republican Women’s 26th annual Chocolate Extravaganza.
This year’s Chocolate Extravaganza, under the leadership of Ralene Sliter, was scheduled for December 1 from 11:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kalispell.
The event featured a delicious lunch and delectable chocolates. Since there is nothing political about chocolate, over 500 people of all political persuasions attend the Chocolate Extravaganza ever.
Twenty-six years ago, two ambitious Republican ladies, Lois Himsl and Rosalie Heinecke, heard about a fundraiser in Portland centered around “chocolate.” They thought that it would be fun to try a chocolate event here in the Flathead Valley. Little did they know that this “small” gathering of 29 people would grow into not only a big event, but one which would start off the Christmas festivities in our valley!
Once people enter the beautifully decorated ballroom at the Hilton Garden Inn, they realized that this no ordinary luncheon. The luncheon buffet pleased everyone, and there were numerous tables which were filled with some of the finest and most beautiful chocolate desserts imaginable. The ambiance, laughter, friendships, and fun were some of the reasons why Chocolate Extravaganza tickets sell so quickly.
The $20 admission ticket includes a buffet luncheon, a chocolate dessert, Christmas piano music by Ladeine Thompson and Rachel Siblerud, a jewelry fashion show presented by Wheeler’s Jewelry, and valet parking.
Additional chocolate is available for purchase, and many people buy the chocolate in preparation for holiday entertaining.
Baskets from Great Harvest Bread Co., Apple Trolley and Flathead County Republican Women were be raffled.
Santa Claus was so popular when he made his appearance last year that he came from the North Pole again this year!
