CHOCOLATE REIGNS SUPREME!

CHOCOLATE REIGNS SUPREME!

As usual, the Flathead County Republican Women held an exciting Chocolate Extravaganza. There was a wonderful lunch, hundreds of choices of chocolate desserts, time for friends to meet, music provided by Ladeine Thompson and Rachel Siblerud on the piano, the Flathead High School Choral-Aires singing Christmas carols, and a marvelous jewelry fashion show from Wheeler Jewelers. Even Santa Claus dropped in with treats for everyone!

Nearly five hundred people came to the Hilton Garden Inn on Wednesday, December 1, 2010, for the Flathead County Republican Women’s 26th annual Chocolate Extravaganza. Excitement grew as both professional and amateur chefs watched 20 judges decide which chocolates would win the coveted Best of Show award. The final decisions resulted in Gresko’s Fine Foods winning the distinction of Best of Show (professional division) for Chocolate Cream Cheese Pie, and Sue Corrigan winning Best of show (amateur) for her Millennium Pie.

Ralene Sliter, chair of this year’s event, stated, “It’s wonderful working with the local Republican Women’s group. Everyone is willing to pitch in and do whatever it takes to be sure that each year’s Chocolate Extravaganza is a success. It also makes it worth our effort when we see how much the guests enjoy starting off the Christmas season with these festivities.”

Chocolate Extravaganza

Published on 11/10/10

It is the Season for Chocolate!

All over the Flathead Valley, professional and amateur bakers and pastry chefs are busy looking through their favorite recipes in order to be ready for the Flathead County Republican Women’s 26th annual Chocolate Extravaganza. Club members have heard that some of the local professional chefs are betting on who will win the coveted “Best of Show 2010!”

This year’s Chocolate Extravaganza, under the leadership of Ralene Sliter, is scheduled for December 1 from 11:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kalispell.

The event features a delicious lunch and delectable chocolates. Since there is nothing political about chocolate, over 500 people of all political persuasions attend the Chocolate Extravaganza every year.

Twenty-six years ago, two ambitious Republican ladies, Lois Himsl and Rosalie Heinecke, heard about a fundraiser in Portland centered around “chocolate.” They thought that it would be fun to try a chocolate event here in the Flathead Valley. Little did they know that this “small” gathering of 29 people would grow into not only a big event, but one which would start off the Christmas festivities in our valley!

Once people enter the beautifully decorated ballroom at the Hilton Garden Inn, they realize that this no ordinary luncheon. The luncheon buffet is sure to please everyone, and there are numerous tables which are filled with some of the finest and most beautiful chocolate desserts imaginable. The ambiance, laughter, friendships, and fun are some of the reasons why Chocolate Extravaganza tickets sell so quickly.

The $20 admission ticket includes a buffet luncheon, a chocolate dessert, Christmas piano music by Ladeine Thompson and Rachel Siblerud, a jewelry fashion show presented by Wheeler’s Jewelry, and valet parking.

Additional chocolate is available for purchase, and many people buy the chocolate in preparation for holiday entertaining.

Baskets from Great Harvest Bread Co., Apple Trolley and Flathead County Republican Women will be raffled.

Santa Claus was so popular when he made his appearance last year that he sent word from the North Pole that he will pay a return visit!

Tickets are now available from any Flathead County Republican Women’s Club member. Reservations can be made by calling Pamala Kaspersen at 837-4428 or Cindy Friedman at 257-8960.

Call now to purchase your tickets and a table for yourself and your guests.
